Dwaine R. Dawson, C.P.A.

Dwaine joined the firm in 2007 and is the owner.  He was formerly with Moss Adams L.L.P., a large regional CPA firm, where his expertise was tax returns, financial statements, and consulting.  His business experience includes management positions at a large, multi-million dollar manufacturing facility of Tyco International.  Clients appreciate his personable, down-to-earth nature and plain language style of communication.  Dwaine graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Oregon Institute of Technology and completed post baccalaureate work at Southern Oregon University.  Dwaine is a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving tours in Europe and Southwest Asia.  He and his wife, Debbie, a third grade teacher, have two sons, Brady and Joel both of whom are attending Oregon State University!  Dwaine is active in the community, including Rotary and past executive board membership for a local school foundation.  

Melva Huffman, E.A., L.T.C.

Melva joined the firm in 1988.  In 1992 she became an Enrolled Agent with the Internal Revenue Service and a Licensed Tax Consultant with the State of Oregon.  Her extraordinary experience includes positions in administration, bookkeeping, and tax preparation in Wyoming.  As an entrepreneur, Melva successfully owned and operated a deli in Medford, Oregon.  She is a certified Quickbooks ProAdvisor and can assist you in all aspects of your tax and accounting needs.   Melva is one of the finest tax technicians you'll ever meet. 

Brian A. Kloster, C.P.A.

Brian joined the firm in 2018 and is committed to espousing the values and services our firm provides.  Prior to becoming a CPA, Brian had varied experience in other industries such as management and environmental sciences.  Where, among other functions, he was responsible for cash flow projections, budgetary planning, contaminate delineation, drafting corrective actions plans and site remediation.  Brian graduated from the University of North Carolina–Wilmington and completed postbaccalaureate work at UC Berkeley with distinction.  A transfer from Portland, Brian loves the Southern Oregon lifestyle enjoying fly fishing, hiking, skiing and virtually any and all outdoor activities.

Teri Thomas, E.A., L.T.P.

Teri began her career in 1995 as a bookkeeper and payroll specialist for local small businesses.  In 2002, she joined a small CPA firm and became a Licensed Tax Preparer for the state of Oregon and later earned the Enrolled Agent with the Internal Revenue Service designation.  In addition to tax preparation, Teri is “everything” QuickBooks offering any level of bookkeeping and payroll assistance needed.  She enjoys sewing, calligraphy, music and bicycling through the woods near her family’s home in the Colestin Valley.  Teri serves her community as a volunteer firefighter and engineer.    

Timothy "Béla" Keenan, Staff Accountant

Béla joined Dawson CPA in the fall of 2019. He is a graduate of Southern Oregon University’s accounting program with prior audit and tax internships at large regional CPA firms.  Béla has successfully completed all four sections of the CPA exam and will finish his CPA licensure certification process in 2021.  Ashland has been home to Béla for most of his years and he formerly worked in management at the iconic Greenleaf restaurant in Ashland.  That “real world” business experience and knowledge of the service industry will be a tremendous resource to clients.  Despite transitioning careers, Béla has not lost his passion for food. When he isn’t cooking and eating delicious meals, he enjoys a wide variety of other activities including hiking, reading, and football (go 49ers!).

Lori L. Hodgson, Office Manager

Lori joined the firm in 2007 and excels at assisting clients in any way possible.  She has an excellent administrative skillset that she learned from years of experience in medical offices.  Lori attended Rogue Community College.  She lives in Medford with her husband Bill.  Her son Lee, recently graduated, has left home which makes Lori an "empty nester."   She enjoys camping and spending time at the ocean.
